For the next few years (until April'08), I am resident with my family on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic and licensed as ZD8I. I hope you enjoyed making contact with the Ascension and that through these pages, you will be a little more familiar with the Island, its geography and people.

Some 'DX-stations' crave pile-ups but I prefer the more personal contact and ask not to be posted on HF DX-Clusters. Been on the air for 27-years having passed the UK Radio Amateurs Examination in 1980 and been licensed as G8WVW from the age of 15. My father is G4LTI and sister G8WVX.

I'm often asked what brought us to Ascension Island, I work as a Regional Manager for VT Communications [link]. We are operators of the BBC World Service Atlantic Relay Station, Ascension's power station and water desalinations, a number of UK Government establishments, Military support contracts plus several seismic, tidal and ionosphere monitoring projects. It is a busy place.
