ZD8I was active the CQWWDX SSB '05 contest as 15m low-power entry. Conditions were appalling with just 224 stations worked. The station was operated mobile/portable from the now decommissioned NASA site at Devil's Ashpit.
Jim, ZD8Z was also active and had similar complaints. Those sunspots need activating!

Our southern/eastern European friends made life difficult at times with heavy, unruly pile-ups on 10 & 15m. I have to say that more then one UK station called repeatedly through QSO's; shame on you. The OptiBeam worked fantastically and as did the bargain basement IC-718.
80 & 40m were a complete wash-out with US/EU stations unable to hear my 100W station for QRM. Worked only seven stations in total and wasted a lot of time trying to make a signal heard. Thought the antenna was damaged and spent some hours lowering it to replace the balun; also tried an IC-706MKIIG but the equipment was fine.
Thanks to the 'boys' for helping to erect the antennas, my neighbour Pete for allowing the guy lines into his garden and my father for dealing with the QSL cards.
Next time? Would be nice to bring some colleagues out to attack ZD8Z's enormous unrestricted multi-op score!
